What We Do

We design websites that work the way you do. But what exactly does that mean? Walk with us back to 1870’s, when a guy named Lev Tolstoy sat down and wrestled with Russian until he composed arguably one of the greatest opening sentences ever written.

Все счастливые семьи похожи друг на друга, каждая несчастливая семья несчастлива по-своему.

Over the years, translators have laid waste to that sentence in a variety of ways, but MFG loves Constance Garnett’s version.

Happy families are all alike; every unhappy family is unhappy in its own way.

Or, as we note on our front page,

Happy websites are all alike. Every unhappy website is unhappy in its own way.

But really that’s because it’s more catchy than the reality, which is pretty simple.

Everyone who loves their website is alike; anyone who sighs heavily when thinking about their website has a very specific reason for sighing heavily.

There’s no one-size-fits-all answer to what’s making you sigh heavily about your website. For some clients, it’s the fact that they don’t like the way it looks. For others, it’s that they thought they would like updating, curating, and editing it, but it turns out that they don’t. Still others are OK with the updating, curating, and editing but are looking for ways to streamline their workflow. And then there are those who want their website to integrate with other tools they use so that they can stop copying and pasting things from one place into another.

You might have a completely different reason for sighing heavily, which is why a big part of our process is spending time talking with you to figure out what's happening with you and your website.

It’s time to stop sighing and start designing a website that not only works, but works the way you do. We’re ready when you are.
